Hey Everybody!

I am having a serious problem netowrking my copy of WinXP Pro. Here's what happens: I plug my system into the network, boom, i have internet access, but I do not have access to other computers, and they do not have access to my system, I can't even see them in "My Network Places". I have run the network setup wizard and set it up properly, but to no avail. Please, I need help!!!! My other friends who are using WinXP Pro are having no problems and I have no idea why!!! I have not disabled or enabled any services and have made no changes to any windows setting AT ALL! I did a fresh install of Windows just for this and it is not working. If anyone can help me out here, I would really appreciate it.

I am currently on a W2k machine and can't remember the location, but if you go to windows help, and search for firewall, it will tell you how to disable XP's internal firewall. It comes out of the box set to block access.

Good luck, and Happy Computing

Thanks, I disabled the firewall, but am still having troubles...

Same thing goes for Zone Alarm -- if it is installed it can cause you problems before your network is set up. I
would un-install it and re-install it after I got the network working.

You say you are connecting it up properly, but don't really say how you are doing it. Are you using a router?
Is it connected by cable or wireless?

If your physical connections are set up properly usually XP will make the connections for you. The biggest problem I have had setting up networks has been with firewalls that were installed prior to the network.
