I have a Sony Vaio 1.8ghz computer runing XP Home. The machine boots up just fine in all modes (VGA, SafeMode, and Regular). I get logged in and after about 5 to 10 minutes the machine locks up. I have reseated the memory, hard drive and other items on the motherboard. I did notice that the mouse port has some malformation to it. The connector had a bent pin which damaged the hole on the motherboard. The machine worked fine for a couple weeks with the port like that. I tried a different mouse and it doesn't work at all and I straightened the pins on the old mouse and it now doesn't work. So I've plugged in a USB mouse. It worked for a while then it started locking up.
Could the damage to the mouse port be causing the system hang?
Thanks in advance
