i am having issue with my windows xp machine and DNS suffix. I am logged in as admin on the XP machine and add the DNS suffix which are required for me to access my office WAN..everytime i reboot the PC , it loses the DNS suffix...

When you add the DNS suffix, are you adding it to the dialup or VPN connection, or to the local area network connection on your network card?

John

I have added the DNS suffix to the network card...i have a checkpoint VPN, that works fine..as i am able to VNC into my pc from my office to my remote site....

I don't know that particular VPN product, but if you use a dialup connection to connect, try going to properties -> Networking tab -> highlight TCP/IP -> Properties -> Advanced -> DNS tab
you can then add the preferred DNS suffix.

I have sorted this issue out.. the VPN server has a policy running, which installs it own DNS suffix for the client machine and it was not pointing to the correct VPN server to get the correct policy..thanks for your help
