Windows XP Diagnostics Utility

The Windows XP Diagnostics Utility is where you can check to see if your fans,your keyboard,disk drive,battery, speakers,ect.... Everything is working.This is found on the drivers and utility "resource cd" and you can boot up to this cd and run this diagnostic test but my question is this.

How exactly do you load this onto your hard drive partition so that you don't need the cd?

I used to press f-12 while booting up and that took me to the place where you could chose "Diagnostics" and run these test but since I have reinstalled windows,I can't run the diagnostic tests that are on this resource cd.unless I use the cd.Does anyone know how to install this diagnostic utility onto the hard drive so you don't need the cd?

What manufacturer is your PC? I'm not familiar with anything like this under Windows XP but I know Dell does have something you describe.

Could you provide us with a little more information?

Yip, thats Dell. I suggest you get your service tag ready and give them a call.
BTW you can also hold down the Fn key when you turn it on it will do the same thing, obviously it needs to be installed.

O yea,that's Dell alright and first of all I gotta thank you for the quick reply,I just found this site and it is incredible!Funny thing is "find the service tag and call them" is exactly what I been doing for the last couple of days and they just don't want to trust that I have any experience with the computer and give me the directions... That would do the trick though.

Seems as I was on the phone to Dell today, I asked them about the diagnostic program. Once you have reinstalled or replaced the drive it then only exists on the CD. It is originally a factory install.

Thank you GrimR,I think you are right about that,which kinda sucks and I found that out tonight when talking to dell (with my service tag)lol.The funny thing is that we must of had a communication problem the first time because the guy that I talked to before was trying to tell me that he was going to help me install it back on the partition and I heard that from another guy that claimed he did it to.Well,I don't think its going to happen but it makes me wonder how dell did it from the factory and if they did it then why can't it be done again?
