We have an Exchange 5.5 SP 4 server, running OWA, on an NT 4 SP 6a server. Some of our users have begun having trouble accessing OWA from their home computers. When they attempt to login to their mailboxes, they get this error:

401.1 Unauthorized: Logon failed

The only thing that coincides between the users is that their home machines are running Windows XP. However, other XP users aren't having any trouble.

Has anyone seen trouble with OWA 5.5 and Windows XP clients?

any chance all the affected users are on AOL?

i had a problem when i disabled clear text authentication, suddenly every user with AOL as an ISP was unable to login to OWA. Thanks AOL! :-(

No, they're not using AOL. Someone suggested the IE 6 default security settings are too restrictive for OWA. I've told them to put the OWL server in the Trusted Domains group, and lower the security for that group. We'll see what happens now.
