Hi,

I'm having problems connecting XP to a w2k domain. We have a Wan with this configuration:

PLACE 1
DC + 50 clients (mainly windows XP)
|
|(dedicated circuit)
|
|
PLACE 2
20 clients (w2k + wXP)

In PLACE1 we had no problems joining computers into the domain. In PLACE2 w2k computers had no problem, while WindowsXP computers keep saying the domain controler was found but the (a) record wich maps the name of the DC to the IP is missing or incorrect.

Well, we dont control the routers of the dedicated circuit, but we used to have another domain, with the same configuration as this one, and we had no problem managing the all thing.

Can anyone help?

We had somewhat of the same problem. It boiled down to not having DNS properly configured. Make sure you have a reverse look-up table in your DNS settings, and make sure the clients all have thier first DNS # the domains. trying pinging it, If your provider is like ours they shut off ICMP(dang!). If the clients grab a IP from the server, make sure the server is providing them with all DNS #s, also I found it best to disable LMHOST lookup, unless you have your own table for it created
