Windows XP blacks out video clips

when i got a video playing (.ram, .mpg, .avi etc) and i take a pic of my desktop using print screen, then paste it into ms paint, everything is the way it should be, BUT the video that was playing is BLACKED out, so i cant take screen shots of video clips im watching, some thing with my TV OUT video card, i have the cable hooked from my comp to my tv, and i can use my tv as a monitor, but when i watch movies on my comp i cant see them on my tv, its just a black square...why does windows xp do this

This is from a long time ago, but I think what you have to do is this:

right-click the Desktop, Properties, Settings, and move hte hardware acceleration slider all the way to the left.

Then to capture the video frame use Alt-Printscreen, and the rest is as you have done previously.

yes i found that out, but in windows media player, the video image is FLIPPED if i change the hardware acceleration.......if its high it doesnt show up, if its low its flipped....

and in windows media player, if u goto the performance tab and it ITS own hardware performance down, THEN it shows up on the tv, but its got yellow stretch marks on the video, hard to watch..

If it is flipped it is a codec issue. Google for ffdshow and use it as a filter. It can "unflip" the video.

I HAD ffdshow all along, i turned hw acceleration down, then went into ffdshow under misc and checked flip, and it works fine on the TV,

oh but wait, the video seems a little choppy when i play it, like the fps slows down, i got a geforce 4 ti 4200, i dont think it shood do that.....

It is not the geforce.

There are little tools to prevent the skips. I am assuming the skips are not in the original source material, which is a big assumption.

If I was you I would mount and play the video from Daemon tools and a "virtual" cd rom drive.

hmm that microsoft update said i already had that fix, and i assume the choopy part is from the hardware acceleration turned down, coz when its maxed up, the vid plays fine
