Do I need to purchase TS CALS for my workstations if I have windows XP running on them.

Yes. Gotta buy licenses for pretty much everything. The right to run something on your desktop ... and the right to connect to a server. Oh, and the right to run something on the server. And, the right to allow people to connect to your server over the internet, the right to serve webpages... ah, but I'm not bitter.

Well, you could always go open source and avoid the licensing fees...

when I use RD from win2k server to XP professional in the admin mode the incoming user logs off the existing user. Can this be configured not to happen. I want two NT sesseions at one time.

Remote Desktop on XP only supports one session at a time, either the console, or a remote session can be active at the same time, not both.
