I've written an interactive, javascripted quiz that seems to sometimes - but not always - cause Internet Explorer to crash on PCs. I'm thinking the crucial difference might be in the version of Windows that is running.

Could some of you PC users please help me test it?

The quiz is located at:

To test the site, just start IE, go to that page, click on "Start Quiz," and start typing in "Aster" as the correct answer to each question.

My experience so far has been that the quiz seems to make IE crash after giving two or three correct answers in a row. But some people, running Windows 2000, have reported that they completed the whole quiz without a crash.

So, if you can help me out here, please give the quiz a try and then report your results. I'd like to know..
- whether the quiz worked,
- what version of IE you used,
and
- what version of Windows you are using.

And thank you very, very much for your help!!

- Trevor

It worked great for me!

I tested it on my Win98 machine running IE 5.50.4522.1800

No problems.

Hi,
really nice site BTW (not sure about green and red text for one of the titles but that's irrelavent). Not sure if you still want feedback but: I'm using Windows NT and IE5.0 and after I think two correct answers I got an internal error, something about addressing illegal memory I think. I had already got one of the answers wrong about 5 times (trying to remember the spelling from the alert box :)) don't know if that makes a difference.

It crashed Internet Explorer and my computer blue screened.

I am running Win 98 Ver C and IE 5.00.334.2101.

In my situation, I entered the first answer, got the message that it was correct, then I pressed okay and got the illegal opeartion error. After pressing okay to that, then I got another error titled "Microsoft Internet Explorer" message "There was an internal error and one of the windows you were running will be closed." After this my computer froze. Then I tried to close a couple of the windows I had open, and I got a blue screen.

Hope you figure this out. Good Luck!

I had the same problem as Beverly except I'm running IE 5.5 on Win98. Good luck.

Windows NT4 SP6 IE5.5 crashed after hitting submit on the 1st question.

Sorry :-(

Greg.

i'm using ie5.0 under windows 2000 and it crashes the window as well (but i reached the 2nd question before it crashes)
also, i got a couple of javascript errors on elements not defined

windows 2000 IE5:

crashed for me after the getting the first question right (i got the capitalisation wrong first time tho)

then i tried again and got through loads of questions until i got an "internal error and one of your windows will be closed" - ie different error

hmm, very intermittent, don't envy you that one :) some kind of infinite loop running out of memory or something? ~ ~
