I have tried to check on windows update options and every time I try to do it manually it goes to my modem. I am on a wireless service. How can I change the settings for updates?

Also, I think I remember seeing that one could set the update options to just remind when updates are ready WITHOUT running it until the user clicks OK. Can someone tell me how to get to this? It does not come up on XPP's Help and Support, it just goes to the modem. I have also checked Internet Options, etc.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Does it go to your dialup service or modem? If it goes to your dialup you need to disable your dialup service or delete all together since you have wireless anyway. As for your auto updates....Right click MY COMPUTER goto properties .... maybe you will find what you need there.

I don't know if this will help, but I use the Avant browser. When I'm online (with Avant) and check for updates, Windows Update opens up in strait I. E. ! It looks like update only appears as Microshaft wants. AS for the dial-up problem: Internet Explorer > right click > properties > connections > never dial a connection.

. Windows Update only supports IE. No other browser.

. If you check on updates it needs to make a connection to the Windows Update service. An ActiveX control is run to determine what you have installed, and what you are missing. This is normal behavior.

Thanks all. Kudos to each. No more help is needed.
