Windows update on The MiCC

Happy Easter all.

Wondering if anyone had some information on best practices updating the MiCC server. Currently its running on server 2016 standard, The MiCC is ver 9.1.3.0

We are a little behind with windows updates on this server. Just wanted to know what is the best way of updating.

we have had a few issues with Hosted Vmware servers doing auto updates.
there was aversion of tools that prevented the server from starting .

have also had some jave update issues
- left original folder empty and elasticsearch couldnt find java after restart

other than that havent had any real update related issues
some of our customers are doing auto updates regularly
some of them we do as part of outage for upgrades

These days you dont really have a choice but to get them done
- where possible id suggest a snapshot before .

If I never did anything I'd never done before , I'd never do anything.....

Thanks for this, yes we host the servers on VMware will probably exclude VM tools.

I guess the only things we can do is take a backup and also a snapshots although with servers that have SQL is not always reliable.

Best approach would be to switched off the VM and take a clone of the VM.

Either way no getting around it update need to be done especially with all hacks that are happening at the moment.
