Windows Update for Win98 - started 11/5/2002

Starting 11/5/2002 Microsoft changed their windows update site to:

http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp

On 4 of my 98 PC's I would crash every time I tried to do a windows update - I would scan until 66% and get a
"IEXPLORE caused an invalid page fault in module WINSPOOL.DRV at xxxx.yyyyyyy" error

I thought this error could be related to 2 big threads in this Win98 Forum dealing with disappearing printers.
1) thread615-102330 and
2) thread615-230161
Both these talk about using the "spoolss.dll" file from WinME to repair the "Disappearing printers" problem with Win98.

When I put back the old "spoolss.dll" file (with the SFC utility) from Win98 cabs the new Windows Update worked fine.
