I installed Windows XP trial to test with my machine for speed and compatibility but I have been away for a few weeks and haven't used my PC. I turned it on today and now I can't log in unless I activate windows first. Can I reset the time limit so I can continue my tests before I purchase/activate the product?

Many Thanks :)

You can reinstall XP. That is about it. XP has a 30 day limit from the time of install. No way to change it without activating it or reinstalling ir (Format first) James Collins

I've never attempted to reload a trial version over a trial version, so it's worth a shot. However, if memory serves, this won't reset the pointers on a trial version. Only a clean install on a freshly-formatted partition would allow you to have your trial period again. If you installed the trial to upgrade a previous operating system (such as Win98), and don't want to lose your stuff, your best bet is to go ahead and bite the bullet.

unless you want to buy bill gates another gold letter opener you will have to format and reinstall.

Back when it first came out, I tried WinXP for over 30 days and hated it, so returned it to Microsoft, insured priority mail. I got all my money back including sales tax, and postage costs. (Since then, I have upgraded my motherboard, installed a 1.8 gHz chip, so I purchased another copy of WinXP and now I am extremely happy!!) I would activate your copy and send it back if you don't like it.
