windows task manager problem

I am using windows xp pro sp1 and when I try to bring up the task manager the only thing that shows up is the processes no applications or anything else at all. Any help with this would be appreciated.

You may be in "Tiny Footprint" mode:

Also, open Task Manager and click View, Select Columns, and make sure the columns of information you desire are checkmarked.

There is no view there. There is nothing up there at all to click on.
