I have a windows 98 computer that always shows the windows startup menu at every boot I just hit enter for nomal and it boots normally. How can I get the startup menu to go away?

Probably was set up that way.
Start, run. msdos, cd \, attrib -s -h -r msdos.sys,
edit msdos.sys
change bootmenu=1 to bootmenu=0
[ALT],[F],
[ALT],[F],[X]
attrib +s +h +r msdos.sys
exit
start ,shutdown, restart and see if it isn't fixed.

not sure I did this right..I went to start, run and typed in edit msdos.sys that brought up the msdos editor then I typed in: change bootmenu=1 to bootmenu=0
[ALT],[F],
[ALT],[F],[X]
at this point the editor closed so I restarted the computer... no change.
By the way it shuts down correctly

see if you have an option for enabling/disabling that in your BIOS
I've foud that on some PCs

That was my first stop but nothing there! Thanks for the input though.

there is also a FAQ under the Windows 95/98 forum that might prove useful as there are a Number of parameters that ca effect the behavior you mentioned.
