I'd like to program an application whereby I don't use the standard windows window. Basically I'd like to give the window it's own skin/shape, a bit like when you put windows media player into skin mode rather than full mode. How would I go about doing this?

Thanks for your time

Sorry, forgot to mention that I am working in C/C++, also the application is to use DX9.

If you go out to Microsoft's website they have a really good write up for doing this. Basically, you're going to create your form shape as an image. Then you put the image as the background of the form. Make your form transparent, and viola...you have a custom form.

Thanks for the tip macleod1021, I will look into it although I have found a couple of good looking tutorials. Thanks again
