I have a windows 2000 server with SAN based storage and the past couple of nights this server has crashed when the backup for it started.

The server acts as a media server with a SAN based Tape library and I have had the backup configured for it self as well as performing a client based backup to another media server, same result? This just started too happen?

Any thoughts, could it be related to OTM?

If this only just started to occur then it is hard to see it as anything other than a hardware issue. Check your memory usage on the media server during backup. OTM can require more memory than standard backups. Try disabling/uninstalling the OTM option if you suspect that it is a problem.
