Does anyone know if Windows stopped with Windows 2000 Server Support as far as updates, etc without paying a fee??

Thanks

Thanks - but its showing 2010; I guess I heard wrong

Jackson, from what I recall, mainstream support for Windows 2000 ended in 2005. They are still providing support in the form of security patches/hotfixes until 2010, but you are no longer getting service packs (or as in the recent case fixes like the DST update). Hope this helps.

Actually, if it is in extended support (and Windows 2000 now is), all they are giving is security patches. Non-security hotfixes are only available if you had purchased a contract for hotfixes by the end of September of 2005. Everything other than security patches costs money at this point.

Time to move on to something more current if you're not on a support plan.

I definitely will; not worth the fee for a Windows Server 2000 system as it is pretty dated.

Thanks for all the info.
