I find that kind of awkward, win4lin is 35$, Vmware is a couple hundred, what about compatiblity issue on Win4lin, does all windows apps work with win4lin, main reason Vmware in my opinion is more expensive, is because it litterally acts like a VM, so you can basically any OS on it, as long as it's x86 compatible. thats about the only reason I can see Vmware needing to be more expensive.

I am running Mandrake Linux 7.1 on my ASUS 7400 notebook with Win4Lin and I have;

1. MsOffice 2000
2. Icq 2000a
3. MsVisio 2000
4. Adobe Acrobat 4.0
5. IE 5.5
6. Iomegaware for USB Zip 250MB
7. Netscape Communicator 6.0
8. Bullet-proof FTP
9. Norton SystemWorks 2000

and I have about 20 other applications! They all work perfectly and I can suspend them w/o hanging

Anyway, I installed most of the softwares just to show off to my collegues that Win4Lin is better than VMware and my RedHat Certified Engineer and Examiner both agreed too

Try it for yourself and you will be amazed at it's reliability.

hmm of course the catch then, is that Vmware only advantage now is the fact you can install ANY x86 OS on it, despite it's slower speds.

As far as I can see the problem with VMWare is that it cannot emulate any real hardware issues. i.e. UPS serial port monitoring. Cannot be done in VMWare. I have had no experience with Win4Lin but I shall try it on the same basis.
