Currently i am running Windows NT 4.0 in a server which has a single processor. Now, I only want to upgrade the server into dual processors in order to run Windows NT. Can this work. I am using a Compaq Proliant 1600 Server.

Yes - ensure that both processors are seen by the BIOS (this is the most common problem). Then boot to NT and run the Up2SMP.exe program or similar (think it is on the resource kit CD). It is the Up to sim multi proc program.

The util you want is called UPTOMP.EXE ( UniProcessor TO MultiProcessor )

As Zel said, it is on the NT 4.0 Resource Kit. You will find it under the Configuration menu. ( Assuming you actually install the Resource Kit )

Having not used the prog for a couple of years I thought that was quite close....

I've got to be honest Zel. I only knew as I installed the Resource Kit yesterday! :)

I don't think I would have remembered otherwise!!!
