hello dear Experts,

Has somebody of you already made a program running in windows CE OR windows Mobile ?

How do I start which such a project and what are the specific things i have to know ?

wfg,

Filip

The first thing to know is that CE doesn't support VFP. As far as I know, neither does Windows Mobile. You will have to make an app out of Visual Basic or Visual C for the CE/Mobile platform.
There is an application able to run some Fox based code on portables, but right now I can't think of what it is.
There are API routines to interface to the portable device, but that's a whole other critee.

Filip,

Are you planning on doing a completely self-contained app, which runs by itself on the mobile device?

The reason I ask is that mobile apps are often used as front ends to larger desktop or web-based apps. It's fairly common to see a data-collection system on the mobile device, with the data being transmitted to another system for the heavy-duty processing and reporting.

If that's the case with you, I'd suggest not trying to do VFP on the mobile, but to use one of the many development tools that are designed specifically for the type of applications I'm talking about.

Mike

Hello Guys,

What I really want to do is using this windows mobile scanner to scan lotnumbers and article numbers and update them in my dbf files. So I need to put 2 or 3 dbf files into that with windows mobile machine (which can be used for scanning a barcode also). So I need to make a program (i would like in vfp because vb is not my speciality) that can perform those things

Hi,

Are you looking for something like this?

Guineu is an add-on for Microsoft Visual FoxPro® 9.0. It's an alternative runtime library that allows the execution of compiled FoxPro code on any .NET compliant platform.
