Hi,
Aside: I didn't notice your response right away. For some reason, even though notify is turned on, I only rarely receive a notification that there has been a response... (Do I have to turn on E-mail notification on every post?)
>A few other things to try before we get to the re-install windows stage. Try them one at a time and check results before going on to next one.
Ok. I don't plan on doing a reinstal just for this. Involves too much work with updates etc...

I'll have a look at this.

(and somtimes it mucks up the sound, too...)
>Here is a solution.
>Backup these RegKeys.
>1:[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam\BagMRU]
>2:[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam\Bags]
>After that you must delete them.

>Now you can change each folder and the setting will stay (perhaps).
Nope.
>You could also try this.
>Close all IE6 windows and try re-registering these files.
>Run each of the following from start/run:
>regsvr32 Shdocvw.dll
>regsvr32 Shell32.dll
>regsvr32 Oleaut32.dll
>regsvr32 Actxprxy.dll
>regsvr32 Mshtml.dll
>regsvr32 Urlmon.dll
>Reboot your computer.
Nope.
>Have you run the System File checking program by typing Sfc /Scannow in the Run Box?
I considered running diagnostics but didn't know what to do exactly...
>Requires your XP CD.
Luckily I brought it on my trip.
This was VERY SLOW... I wandered off and did something else; when I came back, there was no window on the screen-- so I assume it was ok.
>And while your CD is in the drive you can try this.
>The ability to Repair Internet Explorer does not exist in the version that ships with Windows XP. This feature only becomes available after you upgrade to a newer version. This is normal and has been this way since Windows 98 and IE4. However, you can reinstall IE in Windows XP by clicking Start, Run and entering the following command:
>rundll32.exe setupapi,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 132 c:\windows\inf\ie.inf
So no go with any of this. I'm not sure I want to do the repair windows option at this time (I'm away from my regular working location until early September).
Thanks just the same.... I didn't intend for such a tiny problem to consume so much effort! Now having read Frank's post, I'm wondering whether I'm dreaming and perhaps it never was fully maximized? But in any event, it should remember my manual size changes, shouldn't it... and it doesn't.
