I am communicating with family in italy, windows messenger in XP (or msn messenger5.0) works perfectly through our linksys befw11s4 routers uPNP ready, however as soon as we attempt to use the wpc11 or wusb11 wireless connections the voice and video ceases to work. Any reason why ?/ anyway to work it? My mother in law hides with her laptop and needs the wireless!!!
thanks
fred

The problem is probably related to your router doing NAT translations and acting as a firewall. You will probably have to configure your router to forward h.323 packages to your PCs behind it.

thanks for the reply I will seek out the h.323 idea.
Linksys says to change channels on the wireless to avoid noise. and another source says the 802.11B isn't fast enough. I don't see why.

Ok the problem is certainly the need to forward the packages as the system works with the dmz host enabled.
How/where can i find the ports necessary to enable the h323 protocol package forwarding?

Hi fcb1954, did you solve the firewall/NAT problem from laptop WPC11 trying to do XP/Windows Messenger? I have similar situation - it works fine direct but not when i switch to wireless. Thanks

I have solved my problem by upgrading the firmware in the linksys router which then opened the appropriate ports to use windowsxp/messenger. interestingly the firmware download could not be reached by going to the downloads section. You had to go to the product page and click to firmware. Weird the download page had a different firmware.

i am trying to download messenger 5.0 onlt nothing else have you a direct way to get to messenger 5.0 rather then go to messenger 6.0 please help ,,,, thanks airport.
