Is there anyway to make Windows Messanger a network service that doesnt require the internet and runs off internal email addresses (same as DNS usernames x@x.local). I dont know if this is possible but it would be good if it did.
Any help appreciated

Windows Messenger doesnt require the internet. Install it on a server. It integrates with Active Directory for accounts and Office for email.

MSN Messenger requires the internet.

Thanks nick. I thought it did from another article but it was unclear. Thanks

Cant find where the install Windows Messenger is on the server or does it need that livecomm server?

I'm pretty sure that you need to have Live Communication Server installed on one of your servers to use IM internally.

Steve

Yeh install Live comms server on a server.
Install Windows Messenger on each client.
Configure each account in AD for the login (SIP) id.
