Whenever I double-click an audio file (.mp3, .wma, or .cda) Windows Media Player opens but I get an error that says "local". I press play and it then says WMP**. Press play again it displays an alert that provides more details that read like this:
[The path to the file is not correct
Windows Media Player cannot find the file. The server name, shared directory name, or file name may be incorrect.
Check the file name and path for any misspellings or discrepancies. If this error message persists, contact your content provider for the correct location of the file you want to play.
Error ID = 0xC00D1197, Remedy ID = 0x00000000]
I made sure my file association is correct, and I made sure that their are no permissions conflicts. This happens to any media file on any drive (c:\ d:\ and m:\). If I right-click the file and say open with WMP, it works fine, or if I use the file --> open --> within WMP, it works fine as well. Just when I double-click the file do I have problems.
I already reinstalled the OS and it didn't do a thing.
