Im on xp. When I copy a cd to the player, the complete cd will not copy. The copy will stop about halfway thru a song. Doesnt seem to care which song - the software just will not copy a 60 mintue cd.
I've seen something similiar to this, but what happens is the Media Player cycles through the entire CD and then will begin RIPing the tracks after having started and stopped on each song.
Do you allow the Media player to run through all the songs?
WMP has the facility of "Ripping" tracks of audio cd's to the users Harddrive. If this is what you are doing can you also tell us what format you are ripping them to and the quaility level that you have set.

I load a cd into the cd-r device. I hit 'rip'. The process starts to move the cd into the media library. After 6 or 7 good song copies - the copy to library will stop. Sometimes right in the middle of a song. Like 54% or 67% or 77%. Ill have to close out media player and start again. I have 60% free disk space and 500 meg of ram.....
Its not completing a cd, by that I mean it doesnt do the whole cd then start over again.
The settings I am using are default. By that I mean 'fastest' copy. Also - what is the file format that the music copies in to the library too? I dont know how to find the files on my hard drive.
WMP uses a temp cache area for converting the music from CDA format to WMA or MP3. You should check to make sure that it is set to a reasonable size.
Open WMP and click on Tools then Options
Click on the Devices Tab > Click on Advanced Button > Click the Delete Files Button > Also set the "Amount of Disk Space to use" to at least 1999 MB, I personally would have it no less than 3999 MB if you have the free disk space.

I Should have also noted that in the Devices tab you can highlight your CD-R drive and click the Properties button. Under the Rip heading you will see a use error correction Tickbox - Try ticking it and see if it helps.

Nero is deffinatly my favourite burning application for so many reasons. I think WMP will still be my prefered ripping app but it's good to have a backup/alternative.

I have xp pro with all the latest updates. I download music to a computer upstairs and have a networked downstairs computer where I move all new files to before I burn my cd's. A couple of days ago all the new files I download will not copy or move from the computer upstairs to the downstairs hardrive. The old songs can be moved fine. Its as if the new files are being blocked by windows.
