Hi all,

Windows Media player is no longer producing any sound!!

I know my speakers and sound card are ok as I can use Winamp and that works fine.

Any ideas how I can repair media player?

Thanks.

Hi gavm99,

Has Winamp associated itself with all types of sound files?

If it has it will override the WMP settings.

Hi,

No its not that because you can right click and select Open with Media player.

I have just reinstalled my sound card and it is working again but I haven't rebooted yet!

I suspect you will be ok now, but if not go to:

Tools --> Options --> Devices Tab --> Speakers ---> Press Properties --> Make sure the correct audio device is selected.

Hi,

After the reboot there was no sound again!!

But your suggestion (WyldeCarde) has now fixed it!

Thanks!!!
