Windows ME Startup screen

When starting up my fathers new PC with Windows ME an offensive picture shows up on the screen right after the Windows ME opening screen. It is only visible for about 10 seconds then disappears. It then reappears on shutdown again for about 10 seconds.I can't find it anywhere on the hard drive. I searched in Windows explorer for Gif's Jpegs etc but can't find it. Any help would be appreciated.

I suspect that your machine has been intruded in some form; do you use an anti-virus s/w package? If so, first insure it's updated with the latest virus definition files, then run a full a/v scan.
