Clean Installed Windows Me a month ago, but a week later the ME search for files facility stopped working.
The search screen will load up and appear correctly (letting me enter search details, choose different drives etc.)but no actuall scanning of my harddisk takes place?
It will ask for a disc if i choose to scan the a: or cd drive but even then no scan occurs?
Now my harddisk is cluttered up again I have to spend ages manually search for stuff

Any ideas?

Another anoying thing i've also noticed in ME is the the desktop never refreshes, I use the desktop as my download directory, and after every download i have to manually refresh the desktop to get to my file?

Windows ME: 4.90.3000
128mbram
P3 550
Geforce 2GTS
Soundblaster Live
30g HDD
etc.....

It sounds like a system file of an older version has replaced a newer one. I would check the file versions.(I have have been running Windows 2000 Pro for a year. So, I am not certain where you find the tool at in ME.) But there is a Version file checker utility.
You can check versions also by looking at date and timestamps in Explorer. (Look in Windows\system... \system32)
