Not a virus.
Win98SE with all patches...no spyware installed.
No superfluous programs, standard business machine with Office.

Random lockups for any reason...
have changed out hardware to look for a possible cause.

Symptoms include the taskbar not staying docked where it is moved to and other oddities...

Any input most appreciated...

Kimber

The lockups sound like low system resources. The undocking taskbar, however, is a new one one me.
PS If your using Nortan AV 2004 or 2005, that could be the culprit. It uses gobs of system resources and eats 98 machines for lunch!

I have turned off all AV and superfluous programs to assist in diagnosis of the errors...
Low system resources would explain it, as it ACTS like it, but that is not the case...system has had defrag recently also, and page file is static and large.

Still looking, will post if I figure it out.
The taskbar that moves back to the lower default position is unnerving.....I move it to the top and on reboot it moves back....

Any other ideas anyone?

As for the Taskbar, is Personalized Setting enabled?

Could be a "profile" causing this?

--> It's a bird! It's a plane! No, it's an OS update patch! Ahh!! <--

Thanks for the reply...not a profile, is the same logon...mine.

No other users etc set up on this machine at all...

This one is a baffling one
