We've got a problem with a 98 laptop which doesn't display the login screen when booting up.

It's logging onto a workgroup & has a static IP Address. Even after changing the primary network logon from Windows Logon to Client For Microsoft Network and back again, the set just boots straight into Windows.

To solve it, we have to log off and log back on again. I'm sure I've seen this bad boy before but can't remember the solution.

Do you guys have any suggestions?

Check the registry : H_L_M\Network\Logon. Try to set logonvalidated=1

Try choosing log out from the Start menu then change the username and ensure a password is entered and log back in.

When you restart you should get a login box
