Windows log file

Hi Guys,
I bought a dell computer about month ago but I didn't have a chance to open the box and put it together until a month later because I didn't have a desk. to make the sotry short, I have a problem with the PC and Dell won't cover it because it had Warrany for 30 days later even though the box was not open until a month later. can I prove, through a log file or windows activation or any other method, the date when the computer was turned on?

please help me ASAP.

There's a multidude of tools that can help with this but the one that immediately springs to mind is the "Event Manager". It shows when the PC was booted, what processes ran etc.

It would be easy enough, for a user to reinstall the OS, from the restore disks, which would wipe all. "Event Log" is easy to modify (clear all, export-->modify, import).

Answer is to tell the support person "Can I talk to a supervisor?"... hind sight... always test the product, even if you have to wrap it back up. Also, you can argue that it was DOA, so it should not be a warranty issue.
