Hi.
In Windows Internet Explorer 7, when clicking on the command bar ( I believe that's how it's named ? maybe task bar ?) in the tiny tab where it says "open a new tab" ( this could be also done by Ctrl+T ).... so if I open a new tab, is there a way to open the new tab with my default homepage address. in my case it's google.

if there is a way , well I don't' know of and I have to type the address I want and hit enter....

I'm kind of tired of seeing the "you've opened a new tab"....I would like to see my google right away.

can you help please ? :)

BTW I didn't find a IE forum here ...so I'm asking here. Sorry if I'm wrong ...

if I din't make myself clear,(English is not my first language...) this picture will explain what I mean.
Hope it works...

Tools, Internet Options, Tabs Settings Button, select the option for 'Open home page for new tabs instead of a blank page'.

This forum is fine or forum608

Thanks for helping me.... :)

I tried this but it doesn't work...?

Yes I choosed Open Home Page for new....blank page.

Then I press OK

then I can't press apply, but only OK. and I do so

then I close everything( but the pc) I reopen IE, press new tab...but no change has occurred

This new tab home page function works as expected for me. I don't even need to close the browser for it to take effect.

By the way, to post a link using the 'attachment' feature, don't use those IMG tags. To embed the image use the TGML img tag as explained here or the 'Process TGML' link in the Step 2 box of the reply form
So you'd post [ignore]
tab.jpg
[/ignore]

and it would look like:

ok thanks for all.

I will try again until it works...

and thanks for the posting tuto.

smah...if I may ask...

when you try, is your " Apply" neutralized, like shown in my picture, or is it still active ?

I tried again but somehow it doesn't work....

this is my personnel PC and there are no other profiles..so I don't know..

Stef.

The Apply button is dimmed until you make an actual change to IE's settings, this appears to be normal.

To stop the New Tab page being displayed, and thereby displaying your usual Home Page, go to Tools/ Internet Options/ General/ Tabs (at the bottom)/ Settings/, there you have some choices to play with, perhaps you can try "Open home page for new tabs......."?

it's really weird. what ever I do in there, the apply button will stay dimmed. I have tried maybe 6 or 7 different configurations in there, and no, apply won't ever come to life...

maybe something is locked in : Internet Options/Advanced making it impossible to change? I really don't know....

Stef.

The 'Apply' button stays dimmed for everyone since it's in a different dialog box - the 'Internet Options', which is underneath the 'Tabbed Browser Settings'. You can click and drag the blue title bar to move the 'Tabbed Browser Settings' dialog to see what I mean. You only need to click OK in both dialog boxes.

Make sure that you've checked the option for Don't show this page again on your 'you've opened a new tab' page. That's probably why you're not seeing your home page.

@ smah

BINGO ! you have it right one again.

I did not check the "don't show this page again"

Everything works like a charm now

Thanks again to everyone here.

Stef.
