Windows intallation error 2003

I'm trying to install MySQL and I'm getting the error 2003

"Can't connect to MySQL server on 'localhost'(10061)"

The 3306 port in configured and it must be the reinstallation problem How can I solve this? Thank you.

From command prompt try

net start mysql


if not succesful post the error.

I got this same error and did this same thing from the command prompt, yet I cannot start the instance in MySQL Administrator. It gives me the same error??????

mine says its already started, but the install still won't complete. There's no firewall running. what now?

WinMySQladministrator and mysql server are two separate things.
WinMySQLAdmin needs username and password not to connect to MySQL but to be able to start it at windoz boot.

I recommend you do not use it at all. It is not needed and it is just one more service running in memory.

Geminidaddy, your mysql service has started, what installation is not complete?

Please give more info.
