Windows help not working

Is \WINDOWS\HELP\WINDOWS.CHM there? What happens if you just double click this file? I wonder if this is connected to your explorer problem (like something's been messing with your registry entries)? Are these recent phenonmena? (if they are i was going to suggest running scanreg /restore to go back to registry from before the problem started).

Nope, cannot find WINDOWS.CHM anywhere ! Frank.
Try running system file checker (run sfc). It can check everything or you can give it specific file to restore (I think system help files are included)- eg, windows.chm (otherwise, you could look for it manually on the install disk in the cab files).
