How do I 'explore' A,B,D,F,G,and H drives? It doesn't seem to let me do that. Why o why did they get rid of the File Manager?

Hello,
Yes, file manager was sooo nice.
xp has widows explorer under accessories... In there you click on my computer then click your drive.

i guess I wasn't clear when I posted this, I foudnt he explorer. I just can't find a way to look into any drives other than the hard drive, how do I do that?

Like a cd or floppy?
Right click on the drive with the media inserted and click "explore".
I hope thats what you mean :)

Open explorer
go to tools->folder options
click view
uncheck "Display Simple Folders View in windows Explorer"

That should fix your problem :) .

This is a subject close to my heart, I wish Microsoft would leave the fancy tricks out of Explorer, all we need is bare bones access to our drives and folders - I can put up with start menu and desktop tricks - but do we really need all the additional nonsence in Explorer !

gjgf1: you are talking about The File Manager, it came w/ every version of Windows before 2000. It did give direct access to all fo the folders without worrying about MS Windows stupid filing system (No My documents, no desktop) (just C:\DOS, C:\WINDOWS...) I wish they didn't get rid of it for XP

qbasicking,

Open Windows Explorer, go to Tools>FolderOptions, click the file Types tab, select Folder, then click the advanced key, select explore and click the Set Default button.

This is one of the first things I do on every machine I setup.
