crazy but true..

I have been asked by one of the users if it is possible to put the drive letter infront of the mapping rather than at the end.

This is because when they try to open a document / spreadsheet with Office they cannot see the drive letter only the path ( as it is quite long).

Any thoughts guys?

Thanks

Why not try going to windows explorer -tools -folder options -view and select display full path in title bar and address bar. This way everything is displayed at the top of the open window.

Thanks for that!!
That would work - but the users tend not to look up there & want to see the letters in the drop down menu..
Is there any way that the waythe mapped drives are displayed be changed? ie with the letter first?

I dont really understand the question. When you map a drive the letter is shown. If you map the drive and then look in my computer, the mapping is listed by the drive letter and path.
net use E:\\servername\share /persistent=no
should show the drive letter as E when looking in explorer or my computer.

I guess I should have said it is a w2k workstation connecting to Novell network drives. The drive paths are long and although the drive letter is shown in Explorer it is right at the end of the mapping. Therefore when users are trying to open documents within word/excel and using the open drop down(lookin) option all they see is the first part of the mapping as the drive letter is off the screen to the right & this box cannot be expanded.
Thus I have been asked if I can put the drive letter at the beginning before the mapping so as not to confuse the users..
I am guessing it would be a registry setting somewhere.. maybe? Any ideas?
