I would like to know if it is possible to determine the size of all the folders contained in a particular file rather than having to open them all separately and recording their totals?
Thanks

folders contained in a file? (do you mean files and folders contained in a folder? Or are you talking about zipped achives). If you right click on a folder and select properties it will (eventually if lots of subfolders) display total size of all files in folder and subfolders.

You can also get various freeware to analyse your disk space for you (try Google) - this older app still works as well -

Open Scandisk
Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Scandisk
click Advanced...check "Always Display Summary"
Run Scandisk

you can easily create a shortcut to it from the desktop, for future...
the file is C:\Windows\Scandskw.exe
