When I turn on my computer the message "windows is curently set to display too few colors for best performance. We suggest you change your display setting to 16-bit (thousand) color or higher" but when I check it the setting shows the setting as being right. After running a diagnostic an error shows up :DL_VIDEO.DLL. What can I do to fix this. Thanks in advance. Blake

The file "Dl_Video.dll" is corrupted. It comes for an install off the Recovery disk from Compaq. The file is not able to be recovered from the CD.
I backed-up this system prior to the recovery. I have a good and working file which I copied to the coresponding directory. The video is working fine now.

my compaq 1600 server boot's up but there is no display on the screen can anyone help me

Uninstall PC anywhere from your system if you have it on. The ATI RAGE IIC chipsets on the COMPAQ servers will get its driver corrupted if installed on top of PCANYWHERE. So to fix the issue, uninstall PCanywhere, install the ATI RAGE IIC COMPAQ driver, reboot, reinstall PCanywhere. You should be in great shape after that.
I am almost positive that is your problem.
If PC ANYWHERE is not installed then install the correct driver and in your driver for the video controller set it ATI RAGE compatable and not Symbios logic.

Good Luck.

I own a Compaq Windows 98. I'm am having a problem with the DL_VIDEO.Dll, could you tell me if I need to update or what? I would really appreciate any help you can give. Thank You

ANSWER:

Download this file from Compaq;

ftp://ftp.compaq.com/pub/softpaq/sp11501-12000/sp11762.exe

I have read through the answers to this problem and I still cannot change the settings on my machine. I downloaded the updated diagnostic program from the compaq website and it replaced the dl_video.dll file but it did not solve the problem. I still cannot change my settings to the normal ones. Can someone please help me?

I removed a printer and am trying to install a xerox work station and it won't let me use the printer port, says it is in use already.

What hardware are your using? Do you have a remote Insight Card Installed? IF you have a RIB card you can disable the video on the card and use the servers video card.
