Windows corrupted? Domain password you typed is incorrect...

i have here a newly installed windows 2ndE. Its so funny.. whenevr i try to connect to our network it says "the domain password you typed is incorrect.." in "any username and password" i enter... The funny thing is that i could browse the internet and could connect through the internet server.

i have already check the settings of the network neighborhood and it seems to have no problem at all. i even changed several times the LAN cables and even the LAN cards but it still doesnt work. what could be the problem there? help guys please?

I had the same problem with one of our machines at work. But I know what I did. I am a network tech and have admin privilidges only on the local machines not a domain admin. Anyway, someone had frozen the admin account on one of our machines so we just tried to hack the password with vmlinux but it wouldnt unfreeze the account so we hacked the domain admins password on our local machine and went in and unfroze our local account on the local machine, had internet and all just like you did. But when we tried to log onto the domain it gave us the same error that you got. The only cure we found was to reload the machine again. I know thats not the answer you were looking for but you might try that route again.

is there any other way aside from starting all over again?

in the username that i supplied in logging in the network definitely works, and i even tried my other co-employees to try their own accounts but still doesn't do so.

but if ever there is no other way i guess i have to reinstall again... but is there really no other way for it?

Do you know the domain admins password? or is there one? If so go into contol panel, then go into adminstrative tools, then click on computer management, then double click the local users and groups, then click on the users folder highlight the administrator (or whatever your admin account is for your domain) then click action in the toolbar and reset the password to whatever the domain admins password is. There is another way of going about this but I am home and cant click on the menus to give you exact instructions. All this assuming that you have admin priv (assuming cause you are the one doing the reinstalls) Hope this helps cause lord knows I know how much I hate reinstalling a system. Good Luck

are you referring to the server? i think the accounts on the server doesn't have any problem... and were just using a NT... i think its probably w/in the Win982ndE client....but what specifically it could be? Thanks for your time man in answering even while you're home, but i'll still try your comment for that just to avoid starting all over again.... thanks. : )

Change the value of the UseMasterKey value to 0. Note that a value of 0 clears the password check box and a value of 1 selects the password check box.
Selecting the password check box enables password syncronization between Windows and a Microsoft Windows NT domain.

Weren't we supposed to have the same username/password
at the win98 local login as the domain one.

( sorry if the advice is bad, it's some time ago win98 for me)
