Windows cannot read from this disk

I just posted this question in the general pc hardware page.
I realized that it was the wrong place.
I am hoping the site admonistrators will not mind me having the same here.

This is a dvd video
It was brought from a trade show from Italy.
We have a windows system.
This is the message I am etting from the computer.
It is new.
"Windows cannot read from this disk. The disk might be corrupted, or it could be using a format that is not compatible with windows."
Can somone tell me what I have to do.

It's possible that the disc is damaged, scratched or dirty. Will it play in a 'normal' DVD player?

One other obvious question which I have to ask: are you sure the computer has a DVD drive rather than just a CD drive?

The disc is new.
Yes it has a dvd drive.
The windows program is not recognizing the dvd.
Someone suggested using Nero
