On one of our Windows 2003 DNS servers, we had to run a DNS utility to support the 5340 phones.

We are upgrading our Windows Active Directory to 2012, and I was wondering if anyone has upgraded with the DNS options on a Windows 2012 DNS server.

Thanks

Ron

The only utility that I know of that involves a DNS server would be the DHCP Option 125 utility.

Is this what you mean?

Yes. DHCP option 125, and I had to use the DHCP Config Helper utility to create Option 125.

If I needed to, will DHCP Config Helper work on a Windows 2012 server?

Thanks

Ron

Option 125 does not set the DNS. Option 6 is what the phones will use so you will have to update your scope with the new IP. Also in the 3300 itself under the System IP update your DNS server there or otherwise you will not be able to synch to Mitel.

I have only seen it used as high as 2010 server.

I can't imagine why it would be any different.

I believe that all that tool does really is to convert the text to the correct HEX format. It would work should you need for 2012, just remember to copy and paste manually as the automated part will not work.
