I put Win 98 on my compaq. I had widows ME before and it shut the computer off automatically when shut down the computer is selected. Win 98 won't do that. Is there any way to get Win 98 to shut off totally after choosing shut down?

I had the same problem after upgrading an older laptop to Win 98 SE. The fix was to download a supplemnet from microsoft named 4756US8.exe. You can search for it in the support section, it's an updatge to coreect shutdown problems in Win 98SE. Disable your Anti Virus before running.
