Windows 98 Second Edition system reboots after power down taking. How can I fix this?

disable fast shutdown in msconfig used
to do the trick when i had w98 .

there is a problem with the shutdown patch of win98 so plz download it from net or reinstall your os.
 
I recently had the same problem,went to several sites.
Tried every suggestion, every troubleshooter, No luck!
Then, I started checking things out in DOS... did your system originally start out in win 95?
In DOS,type ["C:\>dir/p"] (p=pause, so you can read it.}
Look for duplicate/mutiple"exe" & "dll",ect.files,of the same extentions win 95 & 98 versions. You can also try Microsoft System File Checker. With multiple commands for the same file,version & extention mine would shutdown,
and the reboot. The only propershut down,was:[control]or [F8],during reboot,choose["command prompt"](5),[enter], hold the power button.
The only cure,dump & reload.Hope thats not the case for
you.
