Ok, tried to move on up to Windows 2000 and ran smack into an error on the first reboot of the setup about NTLDR not found... well, after reverting the drive back to 98SE I found a tech article on MS that says you have to fix the boot file so it has some correct information on the heads (???)

Well.. armed with this information I created the recommended startup disk (using the win98se app) and booted with it...

1. No sys.com file was put on the startup... duh.
2. After copying the sys.com file to the floppy I rebooted and did the recommended "sys c:" and got "Invalid Function"

Well, now I am stuck, what gives?

First, let me say, that I REALLY and I mean REALLY dont want to wipe the drive and run from scratch if possible, I have WAY too much data on a 20GB hdd to be backing it all up if I can help it.

Anyone tackle this one? If so please email me at Rigger@paratrooper.net ASAP

Thanks in advance

Maybe this doesn't suit your future plans, but you might try partitioning the drive and leave W98 alone with your data and put W2k on D: . Then dual boot (it's built into W2K. I did this for a while until I had no more need for 98.
Us old OS/2 Warp veterans are right at home dual-booting, but it might not suit everybody.<g>
