Hi all,

I have an HP windows 98se machine that boots up gets to windows and you can do a few things and then it shuts down. You than can not push the power button on the machine to restart. The only way i can get it to restart is to unplug the cord wait a few minutes and start again. Any idea why.
Thanks

Putting in a larger PS will not hurt anything as the computer will only draw from the supply what it needs to run. That leaves a reserve for adding additional drives, etc.. Just be cautious when purchasing a replacement supply for an HP machine (or Compaq, Dell, Gateway for that matter) that physically, the supply is compatible with your case. In most cases, you should be able to apply a little surgery to your case to make the replacement fit. If you can't make a 3rd party supply fit, the best option is just to transplant everything to a new case that takes a standard PS.
