Without more info, could be many things. If you are putting 2k onthe machine, do a clean install (ie, backup first - you should anyway), not an upgrade from 98. Otherwise you may keep your problem. But, problem could be hardware related - if so, 2k install will almost certainly be problematic & may not complete (& if it does, you'll get problems).
So, probably good idea to diagnose & fix problem before you install 2k - more details please.
There are 2 pcs here. Both of them have the exact same problem. Windows boots up without any problem. I see the desktop. But in another 2 seconds, it reboots itself.
I am doing a clean install and it is allowing me to do that. Do you think it could be a motherboard issue? Could the motherboard would have been fried or something?
vidhi - still short on detail! Are both machines similar hardware spec? (what are hardware specs...)
You are installing fresh copy of 98 on both machines?
Did this problem prompt you to install fresh copy?
If so, what happened on 'old' installation before problem started? (presume there was a before....)
If no - try removing/disabling unnecessary hardware (eg sound, network, modem cards/onboard, zip/CDR drives) & se if 98 will install then. If ok, put back devices one at a time.
If no good - could look at RAM (but both machines..) - run on one stick if more than one.
