I have a 32 bit program made for Windows 95.
It is called QuickXpense Enterprise version 2.4.

It was running on my Windows XP and 2003 Server OS's in the past with no problems. Now I have issues when one hits print it just closes down the application with no errors. I searched the Event log and saw nothing. It doesn't seem to matter which printer I use as I switched the default printer in one of the failed sessions with one that worked and it fails in that user's profile.

I tried deleting the person's individual file and give them a new one from scratch and it does the same thing. I can take their expense file to my PC and prints with no problems.
I tried deleting their domain profile on the server and print and it did the same.

Anyone have a suggestion for what I can do?

- Get an upgrade for the software
- Get a downgrade for the OS, ie, install in a Virtual PC, VirtualBox or VMWare session, using Windows 95, then retry.

Right click on the program executable. There should be a comapatibility tab. There you can select for it to run in WIN95 mode.

Have you installed any Service Packs since you last ran this program? Is any printer attached to the local machine or is it a Network Printer? Is the program run from a Server or XP machine?

Does the program need access through any Firewall?

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program? Does it help if you run it as an Administrator?

Compatibility Modes and Virtual Machines have already been mentioned.

Any other programs or Services interfering with it?

Update - Not possible. It is no longer being made and I can not find the original vendor to see if they have any fixes. It is a legacy program that worked well.

Downgrade/Virtual - It is running on a Windows 2003 server Citrix Server. It has run fine for years, and only a handful of people experience the problem.

It is connecting to a Network Printer.
