After a re-install of windows 95 the icons on the desktop cannot be moved and I cannot cut and paste anything also I cannot create a new mail message in Outlook Express.

Anyone any ideas?

do you have auto arrange selected on the desktop ? right click a blank piece of the desktop and check this. If in doubt get the Ball Pein Hammer out

I will try that but there is also the cut and paste problem as well as Outlook Express not creating new mails - I have re-installed it but to no avail

for example if you right click a file on a floppy disk ( through my computer) then clicck copy. can you then go to your c: drive and paste ? not sure about the email issue, is a working account on OE ? can you receive mails OK ? If in doubt get the Ball Pein Hammer out

No it does not let me move or copy any files, it wont cut and paste in word either. The OE account can recieve mail in and I can view it but I cannot generate a new mail or reply to one - it is all very strange

you checked for a virus ? If in doubt get the Ball Pein Hammer out

Yep nothing - I think I may just run the upgrade to 98 and see how this goes - if that does not fix it I will have to start from Scratch. Any issues on upgrading straight from 95 to 98?
