WIndows 7 VM Pro email setup having problems!!!

Hey all, I'm trying to setup the voicemail to email on VM Pro 7.0.17 on a windows 7 professional pc. the computer did not have a email client so I downloaded windows live and set it up. When I go to control panel to set up the account settings, it tells me I do not have a default email client installed, even though i do and i have made sure under "default programs". No matter what i do the Voicemail Pro software will not see my email program to setup. What gives? any help would be great!
 
I believe it's looking for an Outlook profile. I'd go SMTP server (if you have one) as it's way more foolproof. If you are sending to a single domain, you can always use your MX address in there. For instance, if all the alert/vm recips are at xyzcorp.com, use the incoming mail MX record for xyzcorp.com as the destination SMTP server.

Im using a smtp connection. Still no luck. I have this exact same setup on 3 other servers (same pc, same version vmpro) is it possible that the customers network could be restricting the smtp outbound? Just seems weird to me that this os the only location that i have had with this problem.
 
Try , but then let the IPO send the mail not VMPro.
So it will send the mail external, so no IIS needed.

Register:
Enter the following in the Manager > System > SMTP;

IP: 213.165.64.45
port: 587
email from address: you@gmx.com or .us
server requires auth: ticked
user name; you@gmx.com or .us
password; your password
use challenge response auth: unticked

Then on the User > Voicemail > Voicemail email
enter the "to" mail address. this can be a Gmail address.
